Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 2

Mary Tavy 3

Pelynt 2

MARY Tavy took to the Coronation Field for the last time this season with four points needed in their last two games to guarantee second spot and automatic promotion.

The start was not the one ordered by manager Lee Piper as they fell behind five minutes from kick-off . A loose ball found its way through to P Hearnden who beat keeper Rawlings.

Matt Salisbury gave Tavy inspiration with a calmly side-footed goal past the keeper to make it all square.

And a quick break from a corner saw James Philpotts race through to give Tavy the lead.

Two further chances saw Tavy strike the woodwork and if not for the Pelynt keeper the score would have increased dramatically.

The second half saw the same events as Tavy pressed, but to no avail as shot after shot refused to hit the away net.

When a mistake let Pelynt in for their second it was like a bolt from the blue.

Everyone was pushed forward and Tavy struck the post six times with the crossbar coming to Pelynt?s rescue on one other occasion.

To Tavy?s huge relief Simon Pocknell snapped up the winner.
