MICK Fairhurst will be riding on 1970s Chopper bike from Lands End to John O' Groats to raise money for Gunnislake Primary School.

The 900 mile journey ride will begin on May 13 and Mick hopes to raise as much money as possible for the school's new outside learning area. A keen and experienced cyclist, Mick is no stranger to the John O'Groats /Lands End route. In 2006 he cycled there and back on his usual bike, a Mercian. Riding this time on a 40-year-old Raleigh Chopper is a different challenge.

'These machines weren't built for long distance, serious cycling, so some modifications had to be made,' said Mick.
