IN wet conditions, Okehampton started well with the forwards winning good quick ruck ball.
Liversidge was taking good options at scrum half and from a scrum on Paignton's 22 Searle switched to the blind side and slid over the line to convert good pressure into points. He also kicked the conversion. Okes continued to exert pressure through a good driving maul set up by Nash, Baker, Craddick and Giles-Phillips. Bickley peeled from the back of the maul to score.
The backs were getting plenty of ball and looked really sharp, Cooper taking the ball on the crash, Vincent bulldozered through his opposite number to score, Searle converted.
Paignton had some strong runners and started taking the game to Okehampton. But Okes tackling through Heard, Burns, K Lee, Ponsford and Simmons was top notch.
In the second half, Paignton came out and cranked up the pace a couple of gears and scored a good pick up and drive near the posts. However, straight from the kick off Bickley caught and weaved his way through four players tos core. Mortimore won some valuable ball at the line out for Okes.
Paignton took a quick tap ball and looked certain to score but Heard intercepted and ran the length of the pitch, with a great cover tackle from the full back stopped him feet from the line.
Paignton came back again through their big pack and scored another fine pick and drive try to end another great game.
Tavistock U15s girls 74
Plymouth Albion U15s girls 5
PLYMOUTH Albion were decimated by the Tavistock backs who ran hard and straight, to outpace the Plymouth defence and run in 12 tries.
In this seven-a-side match within two minutes of the kick off Amy Neave broke through twice to score. Tries came every two to three minutes making the score 36-0 at half time with tries from Flo Rodgers, Lauren Dawe and Annabel Longden (2), who also converted three.
Throughout the match Kayleigh Gatcum, at hooker, secured all scrums with the head, allowing the three quarter line sufficient width to speed past the oncoming defence.
In the second half, all the first half try-scorers were taken off in turn. The forwards then showed their running skills. Bronwyn Rundle displayed strength and power in the rucks, but then breaking out to score three magnificent tries - one break all the way from the Tavistock 22 metre line.
Tries in the second half were also scored by Lauren Dawe (2) and captain Flo Rodgers. Flo, who sportingly swopped sides towards the end darted through to score Plymouth's only try of the match.
Lilly Hilson played on the wing throughout the match and again allowed no Plymouth player through. The player of the match was Annabel Longden scoring freely and converting seven. Tackler of the match was Kim Upcott, snuffing out any clean ball for Plymouth.
North Okes U14s 27

NORTH Okes needed a win for their morale and with only one substitute they could not afford any injuries.
A confident start from the forwards allowed good clean ball for scrum half Ben Sharp who distributed nicely to Lewis Taylor at fly half; he stepped inside his opponent and set up ruck ball which found its way out to Dan Fogerty, who danced his way through Paignton's defence to score.
Paignton soon responded with a try of their own from a strong run by one of their forwards.
North Okes forwards played well with Charlie White,Owen Branagan and Matt Milton working hard up front in the rucks and Charlie Goldsworthy and Tom Pengelly carried the ball convincingly in open play, setting up for the backs to use Connor Stevens to power over under the post.
Paignton responded with a converted try.
However, North Okes were not going to be denied a win. Liam Michel took a crash ball off of Lewis supported by his back row Rhys Palmer, Declan Coyle and Robbie Griffiths and after a strong run offloaded to Mickey Turner McKennel but he was helped into touch.
Frank Smith also had a lovely run down the wing but he was denied just short; however North Okes were rewarded when the forwards cleared out to allow Ollie Francis a chip out to Dan Fogerty on the wing, who ran in to touch down.

OKEHAMPTON started much the stronger and quickly put Paignton under pressure - twice coming close to scoring but for some last ditch tackles.
The Okes forwards began to push their opponents back in the scrums and with them rucking well setting up quick second phase ball, the backs began to pass the ball from one side of the pitch to the other. This resulted in three tries scored by Matt Dennis (2) and Brandon Horn.
Just before half time, following a quick tap penalty by Tom Strawbridge, Hallam Chapman touched down for the final try of the half.
The second half was a copy of the first with backs and forwards linking well to create good chances and following some strong running further tries were scored by Callum Hughes, Harry Williams and Liam Bonnington; Brandon Horn also kicked five convertions.
This rounded of a good effort by the whole team.

Wadebridge U13s 38
TAVISTOCK gave their supporters an anxious start to their home match against Wadebridge.
For the first ten minutes nothing went right for Tavistock, and a combination of pace, excellent handling, and quickly taken penalties left Tavistock reeling, three tries down.
A crunching tackle from Anthony Hayward ended another Wadebridge attack, and after winning the line-out Charlie Fethney and Matt Smith restored Tavistock's spirits with three tries in the first half. The last of these came after a thrilling run and offload by Brady Workman.
The second half was even more exciting with Brady opening the scoring for the home side, then both teams traded try for try, with neither opening up a comfortable lead.
Fierce defending by both sides kept them level until the final minutes, when Anthony took the ball across the try line to win Tavistock a narrow and hard fought victory.

OKEHAMPTON were put under pressure from the kick off and some good inter-linking play by Paignton resulted in a try early on.
The young Okes found it difficult to get any structure of momentum to the game due to sustained pressure from the home side and Paignton ran in two more tries in the first half — both in similar styles from their three quarters.
After the interval Okehampton began to defend with more vigour and on a number of occasions cleared their line well.
Credit must go to the Okehampton forwards for their strength and determination in the scrums. They won numerous balls against the head including thier own. This was something which the Paignton struggled to deal with.
For Oke Alex Marsden and Oliver King palyed their first full game for the club and they both competed very well in a tough encounter at the seaside.

Ivybridge U11s 21
TAVISTOCK expected a big test against Ivybridge, and this proved to be. From the start Tavistock pressed with their defensive line, giving Ivybridge no room for their passing game.
After five minutes of sustained pressure, Tavistock forced a turnover, and Jack swept up the ball to dive in the corner, converted by Harrison.
Ivybridge came back strong immediately with two converted tries but Tavistock continued with their aggressive tackling and caused confusion on the Ivybridge try line where Jasper capitalised on the loose ball for a try; duly converted by Harrison.
The Tavistock scrum started to dominate, with good hooking from Eric, while the whole team continued to press in defence, with good tackling from Jake, Reuben and both Bens.
Ali ran in a fine try for Tavistock after some great team play to free him 20 yards from the line. Jake scored the conversion for Tavistock to in the lead at half-time.
The second half saw no let up in the high standard of rugby from both teams. After a break from player of the match Ali, Ben R completed a mazy 20 yard run to score in the corner, with Harrison again converting.
Ivybridge hadn't finished though, with another converted try, but the final whistle blew for a deserved win for the home side.
Okehampton U11s 28

ON a wet morning with conditions not conducive to flowing rugby, Okehampton welcomed a competitive side from South Devon as their next challengers. Despite the conditions the Okes managed to dominate proceedings and ultimately end up comfortable winners.
As is often the case the scoring was opened by the prolific Leon Horne. Down the slope further first half tries followed from Greg Daniel and Jack Chapman. Conversions were added by Corey Holliday (2) and Leon Horne.
At 21-0 up the hosts were comfortable and with the visitors battling gamely, but offering little in attack, the game was as good as won.
The weather deteriorated and this affected the handling of both sides. Oke did manage to add another score though after a powerful score from Greg Daniel. Leon Horne added the conversion and the Okes ran out clear winners.
The second game was a scrappy affair, not helped by the conditions. Oke managed to score two more tries though to run out 14-7 winners. The tries were scored by Greg Daniel and Ollie Ardon with a conversion apiece from Corey Holliday and Leon Horne.
Okehampton U10s 0
Paignton U10s 10
IN a hard, close fought game from the off both sides made and then lost ground. Okehampton gave away fewer penalties, but unlike previous weeks, were unable to dominate the scrum.
Gareth played well both at scrum half and then as a hooker in his first scrum on the front row for the Okes.
Dai Chi displayed his usual speed on several occasions but was denied any tries by a solid Paignton defence. At one crucial moment, Dai Chi picked up a loose ball and ran down into Paigntons half before being stopped, gaining vital ground for Okes.
This was a defensive game for Oke as they were rarely allowed the space or time to run freely with the ball. Maddie replaced an injured Brad and brought an injection of speed and agility, darting and side stepping her way towards the line – but she was stopped by the Paignton defence.
Will, as usual played a solid game and made vital ground for Oke. It was to Oke's credit that they went into half time, having held the visitors to a 0-0 score.
Paignton began the second half agressively and finally managed to penetrate the Oke defence. This was due in part to their better rucking but Oke continued to play hard to the final whistle.

IN the second match with Daniel as captain Oke attacked from the beginning. Some committed tackling was put in by Dai Chi, George and Kai, with Alex showing real determination when driving forward.
It was only a matter of time before the home team was rewarded for its efforts, with Nathan getting over the try line to score in the first half. He topped this with another two in the second half and Paignton also got on the score sheet with two tries.
Player for Okehampton over the two matches was Maddie Arden.

A WET rainy day made for poor conditions in this tricky game against Ivybridge. Ivybridge kept Tavistock in their own half for much of the first half and scored three good tries.
However, Tavistock dug deep in the second half with Theo Jenkins, John Lord and Archie Allen all playing well. A try from Jude White helped the team but Ivybridge were too strong. Solid tackles from Zac Gorton, Joe Burbage and Jacob Staig helped boost moral but the team were punished for losing the ball too often which meant it was to be Ivybridge's day. Tavistock player of the match was Jude White.
Paignton U7s 11 tries
Okehampton U7s 7 tries
AFTER a long journey to the English Rivera, Okehampton played their fourth match of the season against a determined Paignton side.
The game started with tries being scored by both sides at an even pace. Unfortunately there were a couple of handling errors which allowed Paighton to pull away and eventually win the first game .
There were some basics errors which Oke will have to improve on. Okehampton were captained by Ethan Drew who, in his own determined way. led from the front with some excellent tagging.
The scoring was shared by Joe 4 tries and Marcus 3.
It was the first game for William Denning whose support play and running was first class.
Overall the team played well with Jeremy and Alex standing out .

THE second game again started with some new players. Holly Keast made her first appearance for Okehampton and showed some great individual skills and passing.
There was great improvement from Finley and Aedan who have come on in their understanding of tag rugby in such a short period . Christopher scored the first try with a storming run down the left hand touch line. The other Oke scorers were Alex (2), Aeden (1) and Isaac (1).
This week Okehampton U7s are away to Sidmouth.

IN this close, tightly fought game Oliver opened the scoring for Tavistock with an excellent try, running in from half way.
The game remained close in the first half with some good defending from Tavistock preventing Ivybridge from going into half time too far ahead. In the second half further tries from Ollie and Josh for Tavistock kept the pressure on the home side.
The teams agreed to a second match at the end, which resulted in the same score. This time tries from Jonathan, Billy and Max kept the game competitive. This was another good performance from Tavistock who are improving with every game.
Their tagging, defensive line and supporting play have come on significantly and their coach believes a little more direct running and greater accuracy in passing will lead to victories in the future.
