THE Ordulph Arms was packed for the summer Taste and See dinner for women in which the speaker was Anna Dodd. Anna is an experienced midwife at Derriford Hospital and a wife and mother of two. She gave a personal and inspirational account of her Christian journey which related to significant events in her life, including discovering faith in New Zealand while working in a ski resort and meeting her husband, when she volunteered to help on a holiday for children with muscular dystrophy. Her faith was significantly challenged with the birth of her daughter who has a serious life threatening heart condition for which she has had major surgery. It was during one of these 'tough and go' major procedures that Anna said she experienced 'the peace of God which transcends human understanding'. Her daughter came through the operation with no complications which, given the medical prognosis, was fairly miraculous. Anna concluded her talk with a vivid work of art done by the youth group at Peter Tavy Chapel, which illustrated the song by Westlife, 'You Raise Me Up'. The next Taste and See event will be at the end of September. For further information contact Ruth Newman, telephone 01822 616859.
