Okehampton Columbines 4 Dartmouth 2 OKEHAMPTON?s captain, Jo Stephens, had an excellent game. Her crosses from the right wing set up a number of chances which Okehampton just could not latch on to. Columbines played good hockey with the midfield and forwards linking up well, but it was a solo effort from Jo Moppett which opened the scoring. The second goal came a short while later when Moppett passed to Viv Weatherington for an easy tap in. The second half continued at a good pace with the Columbines passing well. When Dartmouth did break the backs were quick to close down the attack, with Sandy Corkhill in particular picking off Dartmouth?s passes and pushing forward to set up another Okehampton attack Columbine?s third goal came from another crossed pass across the D which left-half Caroline Friend did well to turn in to the goal. The fourth came from a Jane Jones through ball which Weatherington picked up and put through the legs of the outcoming keeper. Columbines were still creating several chances but a mixture of good goal-keeping and missed opportunities kept the score down and Okehampton began to get twitchy when Dartmouth scored two quick goals and their younger legs began to tell against a tiring Okehampton side. This week Okehampton are away against Plymouth University.
