A FUNDRAISER for a local charity has raised £451 by swimming the equivalent of the channel.

Jo Drew, part of the fundraising team at the Gilead Foundations Charity, swam 22 miles to raise money to help fund new accommodation for the organisation based at Risdon Farm.

The charity offers a residential rehabilitation programme to those with life-controlling addictions.

The farm is currently undergoing a major building project to provide new accommodation.

Jo said: 'I'd like to thank everyone who supported my efforts.

'We have some great news recently of a £10,000 donation towards new accommodation for the project.

'We are getting closer to finishing and are excited about providing excellent housing for our clients.'
