THIS Sunday was the first race of the South West Children's Triathlon Series.
The race was held at the famous Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire ensuring a safe, traffic free duathlon.
Kelly College pupils Jordan Channon and Josh Carnell took part.
Jordan was the first to race in the Tristar two (11-12 years).
He had a good 1.8 km run coming into transition in first place to then go out onto the race circuit for a six km bike ride.
Jordan then had a 600 metre run to finish and led from start to finish completing the race in a time of 23.26mins almost three minutes ahead of second place.
Josh has just moved up this year into the tough youth category (age 15-16 years) where he came up against some strong athletes.
He started the race well and had a good two mile run and following a very quick transition headed out to the track for a 10 mile cycle.
Josh followed this by a mile run to come well placed in sixth in a total time of 48.48 minutes — which is an excellent achievement con-sidering he has just stepped up to this level.
