Celebrations will be taking place in Lydford this Saturday, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of the war. The parish council recently received a Lottery grant of £4,500 to fund all the activities to make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable day. The event will be opened by Christine Barford from The Archers, with the first event being a ?dig for Victory?, flower and produce show. The afternoon will be jam packed with activities including a team obstacle course based on the Royal Tournament, testing co-ordination, skill, team work and speed. Teams of four can enter the competition, each of which should include a member eight years old or younger. The prize will be a child?s go-kart. World war two military vehicles will also be on display throughout the afternoon, with enthusiasts having the opportunity to discuss the vehicles with the owners. The celebrations will continue long into the night with a hog roast from 6pm, before AJ?s Big Band take over to entertain everyone. The band will play old favourites including some by Glenn Miller, and is set to get everyone dancing. The day?s celebrations, which begin at 2pm, are open to everyone with entrance and activities all free.
