AN appeal is being made to West Devon businesses and schools to take part in Wear it RED Day for the cardiac centre at Derriford Hospital. This will be the third annual event on Valentine's Day (February 14) for HeartSWell, which raises funds for the purchase of cardiac equipment for the hospital. The charity also funds a specialist nurse counsellor and runs an adjacent lodge where families, friends and carers of patients from outside the area can stay whilst their loved ones are receiving treatment. Since its beginnings Wear it Red Day has raised more than £3,000. The charity is asking people to wear as little or as much red clothing as they want, although head to toe with dyed red hair would be fantastic, it says.
