THERE?S an opportunity to learn more about Tavistock?s rich heritage and wildlife next Saturday, September1, at a choice of two events organised by the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. John Goodridge leads the morning session, to discover more about Tavistock?s lost architect, Theophilus Jones. This guided walk will explore many sites of interest relating to the 1843-1858 architect and surveyor, including Dolvin Road cottages, Duke of Bedford cottages, magistrates court, the market and St Eustachius Church. Take a summer stroll in the afternoon along Tavistock Canal, for the chance to see up to 10 different species of butterfly if it?s sunny, including the big silver wash fritillary. Martin Summers, local botanist & conservationist, leads this walk, pointing out flora & fauna along the way. Both events cost £2 per adult and 50p per child, payable at the beginning of each session. Booking is essential.
