TAVISTOCK Athletic Club's 'athlete of the month' is Jo Meek. Jo has been a club member for the last 16 years, joining as a 17 year old. She runs consistently well, both on road and off, reliably finishing in the first three female places. Last weekend, Jo was second female home in the Bideford Half Marathon (in a time of 1hour, 19minutes, 52seconds), as she was in Plymouth Hoe 10 last month. She was part of a three-strong TAC female team to gain a gold medal in the Devon cross-country championship and a silver in the South-West Championship.

Jo said that her finest running moment was coming second in the Cross-Country National Championships in 2004 and then going on to run for England. Her aim now is to run for Great Britain at the marathon distance.

'Jo's commitment is an inspiration to all in TAC,' said Sheila Houghton on behalf of the club.
