THE chief instructor with Tavistock Taurus Kick-Boxing Club could be going for national honours later this year, if his challenge to become Southern Area Champion on Sunday proves successful.
Jimmy Hamilton is already South West Champion and a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Kick-Boxing and Karate.
Sunday's fight at Purfleet in Essex is to be filmed by Sky TV for transmission at a later date.
'I have been doing karate all my life — since I was 10, and I'm 33 now,' he said.
'I took up ordinary boxing when I was a teenager, then turned back to karate before deciding I wanted a full-contact sport.
'I've been quite successful since turning professional three years ago and will go on for a little bit longer — but age is starting to catch up with me!' said Jimmy.
'Kick-boxing is all about you — a chance to push yourself,' he said.
Tavistock kick-boxing club has been running for three months and Jimmy said around 15-20 people regularly attend the sessions — which are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Tavistock College at 6.30pm.
Anyone interested in joining the club can turn up to one of the sessions or call Jimmy on 07763 801465.
