MID Devon Riding Club member Jennie Humphry competed at the Riding Club Horse Trials at Offchurch, Bury recently in the open section. The competition consisted of dressage on Friday, roads and tracks, steeplechase and cross country on Saturday followed by show jumping on Sunday. Jennie, riding her Danish warmblood Regina Lyng, finished 2nd on 40pts, with only 0.3 points separating her from the arena winner. Jennie was one of the few to achieve a double clear but unfortunately had 2.4 time penalties in the cross-country phases. This proved to be the second fastest time of the day. Jennie is trained by Michael van Houben of Okehampton. Regina Lyng is now having a well deserved rest while Jennie concentrates on her new horse.
