YOUNG Okehampton Royal British Legion standard bearer James Stacey will be taking part in the Festival of Remembrance in the Great Hall, at the University of Exeter in November.

James will be taking part in the 'Entry of Legion Standards' at the ninth annual Festival of Remembrance on Thursday, November 6, beginning at 7.30pm.

He was recruited from the Okehampton Air Training Corp Cadets, and at 17 is believed to be one of the youngest standard bearers in the country.

The Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion has arranged for a 33-seater coach to take members to the event.

The coach will depart from Fore Street, Okehampton — those wishing to take advantage of this facility should add their names to the list displayed on the Royal British Legion social club notice-board not later than September 29.

Tickets to the festival of remembrance, at £5 each, can be ordered from the Royal British Legion Okehampton branch and social club, in Station Road.

Tickets will also be available at extra cost on the night at the Great Hall.

l Okehampton's own Remembrance Sunday parade on November 9, will this year have an Army presence. The parade numbers are likely to be swelled by a contingent of regular soldiers of the Royal Engineers, just back from Iraq and on exercise on Dartmoor.
