I AM an 11-year-old girl who thinks building a youth club is a brill idea. Everyone I know, including me, never really has anywhere to go or anything to do because Tavistock isn't a very good place for kids.
I only ever see things for tourists and old people.
I read the mayor, Judith Williams', reply to a letter in the Times saying that she thought it would cause too many problems building a youth club. Well, there's a lot of problems right here right now. All the kids are bored out of their minds and boredom leads to destruction.
It would make more kids come to Tavistock instead of having to travel all the way to Plymouth where all the fun is.
You probably think, 'Why would a youth club make you less bored?' Well, because you can chill out there, meet your mates instead of having to go to their houses, you can play snooker, cards, slot games with racing games, you can get a fizzy drink and chips, you can listen to lots of cool music and it would be an excellent place for kids. I would love it.
Lots of ideas will develop from just one building that Mrs Williams is saying would cause too many problems. I know one of the problems she said in the newspaper was that we would build it and it would turn out a disaster. To make sure it doesn't the council could go round asking all the kids what they would like and then build all the ideas together. The council has built all these other things for the tourists and old people, why can't it build fun stuff for us kids.
Please could you agree to building a youth club, Mrs Williams.
