A WEST Devon woman is inviting the local community to join her in having a cuppa to support Macmillan Cancer Relief?s World?s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Fiona Aylen, an independent fashion co-ordinator for women?s fashion company Weekenders, is inviting people to join the 1.5-million people across the UK taking part in the fundraising event on Friday, September 24.
The World?s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan?s largest annual fundraising event. Now in it?s 14th year, the event has raised more than £25-million for people living with cancer and holds the Guinness World Record for the largest global coffee morning.
Fiona is part of a network of fashion co-ordinators encouraged to take part in the event as part of the Weekenders? partnership with Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Fiona said: ?Last year 200 fashion co-ordinators took part in the event across the UK and raised more than £26,000. We want to raise even more money for Macmillan this year, so we?re calling on everyone to come along to our fashion presentation in Shelley Chapel, South Zeal and join us for a cuppa between 9.30am and 12-noon. Every penny raised will enable Macmillan to help even more people living with cancer.?
Today and every day, 741 people in the UK will be told they have cancer.
Money raised by coffee mornings held all over the country makes a real difference to people living with cancer and will help fund the 107 new Macmillan nurses and 24 extra Macmillan doctors needed by the end of this year.
