PRINCETOWN is preparing for a busy end to the summer with the Princetown Carnival, Dartmoor Pony Show, and Grand Raffle and Auction. The carnival, which is on Saturday, September 3, is set to be bigger than ever with lots of events to keep everyone entertained. This year, the Dartmoor Pony Show will be incorporated into the carnival with 12 classes to compete in. The show, which is going into its 15th year, has become an important date in the Dartmoor Pony diary, and is open to registered members of the Dartmoor Pony Society. Local dogs will also have the chance to show off their talents in the family fun dog show with classes including best conditioned and fastest Bonio eater! Music will be on offer throughout the day and ?have-a-go? workshops with junk band, ?Mixed Up?, and Uganda Drums. There will be performances by Plymouth Morris and the Tavistock Twirlers, with local band, Moor Time, playing during the evening. ?Princetown 1785-2005? is the theme of the carnival procession which is set to be the highlight of the day. There will be colourful floats and walking entries. Anyone is welcome to submit an entry into the procession, right up until the last minute. The fun continues on Sunday, September 4 with the Dartmoor Dash. Enthusiastic runners are invited to try the 5-mile run across the moor and anyone interested should contact Sue Gaze on 01822 890527. Finally Saturday, September 10 sees the summer events draw to a close with the grand raffle and auction, with lots of prizes, including an I-pod and DVD player. The Princetown Community Fund Committee has organised all the events, with the money raised going towards a new community centre.
