THE Get Changed Theatre Company for adults with learning disabilities has made a change itself and is now based in Okehampton.

The Get Changed Theatre Company originally worked at the Alexander Centre in Tavistock, but has begun a new life in Okehampton thanks to New Life Church.

The theatre company consists of 15 members from the West Devon area. It was established in 1995, and since then the group has created and performed issue-based theatre to many audiences across Devon.

Due to the continuing growth of the company, new premises were sought.

Get Changed is now embarking on an exciting project which involves working in schools and colleges in Devon, educating youngsters on the issues faced by disabled people.

Links have already been established with local secondary schools and the company has undertaken some research workshops with the children.

One major problem which can affect both disabled people and schoolchildren is bullying and Get Changed is keen to tackle this issue head on, eventually devising a show which can be taken into schools across the South West and beyond.

The company is now working every Wednesday at the New Life Church and would like to thank the church for supporting its valuable work.
