LAST week was a good week for Tavistock Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club, who completed a ?clean sweep? when winning all four games played. The Ladies league team got the week off to a good start when they won Monday?s fixture at Buckfastleigh, 53-26, thanks to skip Jill Lacayo and her crew of Henny Bawden, Anne Browne and Catriona Meek, notching up a 26-25 victory and skip Marion Allen leading her crew of Hazel Lovell, Marlene Paramor and Sue Silcox to a convincing 27-11 victory. Tuesday saw a Tavistock mixed team complete the double over Looe Bowling Club when winning the match at Tavistock (136-81) after having already won the away fixture at Looe 122-103. Tavistock won five of the six rinks played, with skip Vic Stacey and his team of Walter Meek, Sue Silcox and Geoff Cork winning 31-11 and skip Roy Northam leading his crew of Val Southern, Charlie Cummings and Gordon Northey to a 15-10 victory. Skip Malcolm Bloomer, ably assisted by Jenny Aldridge, John Smith and Norman Thornhill, won 29-16, while skip Ron Cooper led his team of Albert Townsend, Stuart Doidge and Marlene Paramor to a 22-9 victory. Skip Norman Paramor and his squad of Der Saunders, Barry Chappell and Wendy Bloomer won 24-11 and skip Jill Lacayo and her team of George Blackburn, Roy Gill and Ernie Piper lost 15-24 when a run of good fortune saw their opponents score ten shots in the last four ends of the game. The men?s home match on Friday was an evening league fixture against Mount Gould, which ended in a convincing 96-61 victory for the Tavistock men after they won three and lost one of the four rinks played. Skip Roy Northam and his team of Mike Silcox, Bill Ashe and Harvey Leach won 29-12, while skip Malcolm Bloomer led his crew of Gordon Northey, George Blackburn and Brian Davis to a 19-14 victory. Skip Mike Allen and his squad of Vic Stacey, Brian Preece and Norman Paramor notched up a convincing 30-13 win, after winning 12 of the 21 ends played. Saturday saw a mixed Tavistock team travel to play a Barnstaple United Services team and come away having won the match 90-84 after winning three of the five rinks played. Skip Der Saunders and his squad of Val Southern, Walter Meek and Marlene Paramor won 19-15 while skip Jill Lacayo led her crew of Mike Silcox, Barry Chappell and Albert Townsend to a 22-14 victory. Skip Sue Silcox and her team of Gordon Northey, Mike Felles and George Blackburn won 24-14 while skip Norman Paramor and his crew of Geoff Cork, Vic Stacey and Catriona Meek only managed to score on seven ends when losing 13-25. Skip Stuart Doidge and his team of Shirley Blackburn, Joan Northey and Brian Preece fought out a close game finally losing 12-16.
