AS a resident of St Anne?s Chapel and proprietor of a local business I am absolutely disgusted and dismayed by your article (East Cornwall Times, February 26) on speeding traffic in St Anne?s.

It stated that a recent initiative by police was a ?runaway success?. Really, in whose eyes? Certainly not by the poor motorists going about their daily business and certainly not by many of the locals who tell me that the road has only become dangerous since the limit was reduced to 30mph and the clearway abolished, allowing parking on the road to cause traffic to stray onto the wrong side and into the path of oncoming vehicles, hence the frequent accidents.

If safety really is a priority then reinstate that 40mph limit and the clearway and watch the accident rate drop.

Sure, it?s easy pickings for the police real criminals are hard to catch but the motorist is a sitting duck and a sure shot.

Funny how many of the do-good brigade who support this measure aren?t the ones who have to use a car every day to get to work. And when they are on the road they are a danger to us and themselves with their erratic braking and late signalling and snail?s pace speed on open roads. They are the real danger!

Remember ? speed doesn?t kill, inappropriate use of speed does and that includes lower speed which induces impatience, stress and then risk taking.

Drive safely.
