I THINK it is a great shame that the model flying club on Plasterdown is to lose its ground after many years.

I am not a modeller myself but I do make frequent visits to admire the exquisite workmanship of the models and the skill of their pilots and I have to say that I have never seen any animal even remotely frightened, let alone 'terrorised'.

As for noise, the nearest house is a good quarter mile or so away from the flying ground and as these aircraft are flown generally in the summer months when conditions permit and only a few hours a week.

I do wonder whether those who have complained to the Park also moan about military and civilian aircraft who regularly overfly the area and who make considerably more noise.

It is a sad reflection on our society that some people are so petty and mean spirited that they seek to deny a small model flying club the pleasures of their hobby.

I do hope that Mr Belli, the new Dartmoor National Park planning officer, will reconsider his decision.
