MARY Tavy lost their way in this crucial run-in to the title. With four matches left a win would have seen them stay top by a point with a game in hand, but the Devon team struggled to find any real equilibrium and saw them drop two points and two places in the league.
With some tough matches against the two top sides still to come this result may come back to haunt Tavy.
They failed to master the unpredictable bounce of the ball which inadvertently handed Queen?s the opener. Although Philpotts struck back within minutes it was never going to be a match to go down in Tavy history.
The second half saw them press harder but with a depleted squad and the sight of the linesman?s flag being consistently raised it was always going to be tough.
Tavy travel to Menheniot this week and hope to reignite their chances of promotion.
