I CHALLENGE John Burnett MP by active opposition, to attempt to resolve the British intervention in Iraq which I believe to be premature and ill-advised. It takes great courage to stand above others in politics, and John, as Shadow Attorney General, is in a position to question the legality of Allied intervention at this stage and to stand firm on the six principles mentioned at his public meeting on Saturday.

I understand the first of these principles to be the necessity for full United Nations backing before he is able to support any intervention taking place in Iraq.

I believe in United Nations supremacy with recourse to the International Court of Human Rights to investigate and resolve international disputes. I feel an extremely dangerous situation exists whereby supporting the United States, Great Britain has set herself up as a soft target for those less willing to bombard the USA.

I do not believe we are in a position to take that risk, nor impose it on our residents.
