THE Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney committe is holding a sheepdog trial including dog show on Saturday, August 28 at the sports field Plasterdown.

The trials have been successful in raising money for the churches of Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney over the last 34 years.

The trials have from 1981 to 2009 been held at Birchy Farm, Whitchurch by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Tom Cox, but this year are returning to their original site adjoining Plasterdown by permission of Michael Doidge.

n THE Devon and Exmoor Sheepdog Society held its Clinton trial at Ashtree Farm, Sidmouth, East Devon on Sunday by permission of The Clinton Estate.

RESULTS: Open driving (judge, Phillip Davies-Russell with 37 dogs, points out of 100), 1,  Jim Nicholls. Joe 92; 2, Lesley Lock, Moss 83; 3, John Carter, Jen 82; 4, Robert Hawke, Jill 79; 5, Andrew Hendy, Lad 78; 6, Graham Glanville, Sam 73.
