THE third annual investiture to be held in Tavistock by the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem took place at St Eustachius Church on Saturday.
Dean of the Commandery of Avalon ? and former rector of Chagford ? Louis Baycock (centre) officiated with the help of the Prebendary John Rawlings and the Rev Andrew Rowe. Also in the front row (left) is John Fewings who is Commander of the Commandery of Avalon.
An ancient order that goes back to the days of the Crusaders, it is a charitable organisation that raises funds for Lepra and other good causes.
The order meets three or four times a year at the Bedford Hotel, Tavistock as well as holding the annual investiture in the town.
