A ROOM at a charity's house in Bristol used as accommodation for parents with children being treated at Bristol Children's Hospital is to be named The Dartmoor Room. The name is the result of the fundraising achievements of a group of seven ladies from the Okehampton area, who raised £6,290 for the Ronald McDonald House in Bristol by taking part in a parachute jump in April and organising various other events. Liz Baker, Anna Chappell, Sue Hutt, Ebony Hutt, Alison Smith, Stacey Shulmeyer, Emma Gordon and Lisa Dawe thanked everyone who had sponsored them and supported them in their fundraising. They travelled to the house in Bristol to present the cheque, which was received by Denise Johnson Carr on behalf of the charity. The money will be used to help in the construction of six new rooms, and Denise said it was the largest amount they had received from a sponsored group. The Okehampton women were asked to name one of the rooms, and chose The Dartmoor Room to reflect the area they came from and where most of their sponsors lived. They intend to continue fundraising for the charity.
