I AM writing in response to your front-page article in last week?s Times, on the subject of on street drinking. However your article fails to mention that the public toilets in and around the town centre are, in may cases, not available for use to members of the public over and above the licensing hours that have been granted to them. It has been observed on many occasions, during the daytime and late evening that members of the public in the age range as described in your article have been using St Eustachius consecrated grounds and against its doors as a toilet. This is intolerable and it is felt that the younger generation should be more responsible to the community at large. I look forward to hearing from our councillors as to how they are going to overcome this problem. Charles Douglas John Mathis 1 Bedford Court Russell Street Tavistock
