AN exhibition. 'Gardens and Landscapes', by Devon artist Robert Banks will be held at The Garden House from May 19 until June 3. As the title of Robert's exhibition suggests, the 60 oil and watercolour paintings on display have been mostly inspired by the area in which he lives. They include local landscapes, Dartmoor, rivers, trees and fields. The exhibition area is particularly appropriate, as a number of paintings capture the beautiful flora at The Garden House. Robert was head of art at Devenport High School for Girls before retiring to concentrate on his painting at Stoneybrook Studio in Buckland Monachorum. In describing his work, Robert said: 'I attempt to evoke the essence of what moved me and to express those qualities which determine the character of that which is meaningful to me.' The two week exhibition at The Garden House can be viewed daily between 10.30am and 5pm.
