A LOCAL man was taken to hospital yesterday morning (Wednesday) with head injuries after a collision between a car and a Western National bus in New Road, Okehampton.

The Volvo had been heading towards Okehampton when it collided with the single-decker bus travelling in the opposite direction at 9.30am.

The bus, which was on its way to Bude, was carrying two elderly passengers who were treated at the scene for shock.

A police spokesman said the man's injuries were serious but not life-threatening. He was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The road was blocked for approximately two hours.
