A WEST Devon vet has this week appealed for help to find out what happened to her cat Maui.

Maui went missing from Liz Stuart's home in Yelverton recently. Liz, from Town Farm Vets, posted over 100 flyers through doors and in shops in the area and has had several leads — one such lead was that a brown tabby and white cat was knocked down and killed between Yelverton and Tavistock by Devonia Residential Home on Wednesday, June 23.

'The cat was seen dead on the verge by several people up until 7am on Thursday morning,' she said.

'I passed on the way to work at 8.30am and couldn't see a cat, which leads me to believe a kind person stopped and perhaps took him to bury.  I have called all vets and shelters in the area, and there are no reports of dead or alive cat matching Maui's description.

'He is a large cat, 7kg, brown tabby and white, no collar but ID chipped.'

The vet said she hoped that the kind person who found this cat would come forward and let her know where he is buried.

'Our family miss him so much,' she said. 'We would also like to offer them a thankyou gift.'
