POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses, following an incident involving a tractor and slurry tanker on the main A386 on Tuesday morning.

Substantial traffic built up on the road after the incident, which occurred at around 8am near

the Texaco garage on

Plymouth Road.

PC Daniel Forder said: 'A tractor and slurry tanker were travelling towards Morrisons when the tanker came loose and mounted the kerb, taking out the telegraph pole and the bus shelter.

'There were no injuries and luckily the slurry tanker, which was empty at the time, stayed upright.'

PC Forder said police and BT engineers were on the scene soon after the incident.
