FORMER mounted policeman Allen Lewis is getting in the saddle for his Dartmoor Horse Ride charity ride on Sunday, March 28. Allen Lewis, commercial manager of Tavistock AFC and secretary of Tavistock Youth Cafe Plus for Special Needs Children, will be joined by three farmers and a nurse to ride 20 miles across the moors — from Postbridge to Tavistock AFC to raise funds for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.
Allen told the Times: 'With a fantastic party after the event at the Tavistock AFC Red and Black Club we should have a great atmosphere. A ladies match will be on at Langsford Park so lets hope its dry so I can creep out on the pitch for a photo shoot with the team-just like the 'old days' when I was on duty at Brighton's Ground controlling the fans with my iron grey police horse Justin.
