A FILM made by a Tavistock-born man is in the running for a prestigious media award. 'Small Change' by writer and director Chris Jones is hotly tipped to win the best independent film/video title in the 2008 Media Innovation Awards. The film was produced by Exeter Phoenix Media, which also has another 2007 production nominated for the award — 'The Revenge of the Jazz Hoodie' by Exeter based filmmakers Jerry Hart and Ben Sherriff. Nominated for the Best Collaboration Between Business And Young People award is 'Café Loop'; an interactive soap created from scratch by a group of young people at Exeter Phoenix.  The Media Innovation Awards celebrate the innovative use of screen based media. There are 14 award categories and in addition one overall MIA trophy will be awarded to the most exceptional project, individual or company drawn from the winners.
