BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) recently held their club presentation evening. The Bats had an exciting year with many members improving in all aspects of their running. From 10ks, to half-marathons all the way up to full marathons, members competed in more than 23 races during the year. A total of £700 was raised for the Shelterbox Tsunami Appeal at the beginning of the year. The club also raised money for Bere Alston School and the neonatal intensive care unit at Bristol through the London Marathon. A further fundraiser is to be held in January and coupled with the club place in the London Marathon, to be undertaken by Samantha Grylls, money will be raised to buy two local children (Edward and William Larkin) multi-terrain wheelchairs. Dotty Allan (BAT chair) expressed thanks to all club members and sponsors for their continued support and to Sally?s Signature, Whitmore Screenprint and the Rock Inn for helping to make the evening a success.
