I HAVE read the letter (Times, January 1) from Nathan Feaver commenting on the article in the Times on December 18 about the proposed redirection of the path from Leeze Park to Castle Road.
As an 89-year-old pensioner and resident of Leeze Park who uses the path regularly, I feel I am more qualified to comment on the subject thanMr Feaver, who is neither a pensioner nor a resident of Leeze Park.
To my knowledge he does not, nor have any reason to, use this path. His only interest is that he is the developer.
If we are to believe his assessment of the path, we who use the path regularly are taking our life in our hands.
However, in some 30 years or more I have yet to hear of any such accident happening.
He makes the point that the existing path is steep but does not mention that any revised route must be at least twice as steep to overcome the increased gradients involved.
I admit that a better surface is desirable but if this is not available then let us keep the path as it is and has been used by us for so many years.
One final comment: whatever alternative is put forward will still have to come into Castle Road at the same place or even more dangerously nearer the curve in the road.
