OKEHAMPTON College is to stage its first ever Careers Fair next Wednesday (February 12) when 27 local and national organisations will be attending.
The event is to publicise the many opportunities available to the students ? both in Devon and wider afield.
College vice-principal Daryll Chapman said: ?Society is changing at an extremely rapid rate and, with it, the requirements for the future workforce.
?It is vitally important that schools keep abreast of these changes and offer a curriculum that prepares students for the challenges that lie ahead.?
He said the nature and content of the courses offered at both GCSE and Post-16 have altered a good deal over recent years in response to these changes.
?It is important that our students are aware of the opportunities available to them and this careers fair will hopefully raise ambition and aspirations amongst our college community.?
Students from Years 9-13 will visit the fair during the day, with parents and students being invited to attend the evening session between 6pm and 8.30pm.
Another important date in the college is the forthcoming Post-16 and Year 9 Options Information day and evening on Wednesday, February 19.
Once again students will have the opportunity to discuss courses with staff during the day in preparation for the evening when they can return with their parents to explore their options further.
