PRPOSALS for the enhancement of Fairplace will be displayed at Okehampton Show on Thursday, August 10 on the town council stand.

The council this week accepted that it was up to it to get the town involved in the consultation process.

Members have been asked for their guidance in this matter from the county council's local services officer Mike Parnell following criticism from townspeople about lack of consultation on the scheme for the St James Chapel area.

The council agreed in principle with the need to carry out pedestrian safety and environmental enhancement work at Fairplace and that the new proposals should go out to consultation.

The proposals, by Mr Parnell and artist Ray Smith, will be displayed at a number of locations in the town, following the show, to invite local comment.
