I WONDER how many of your readers who do not reside in the area directly affected by the proposed development at Butcher Park Hill realise that it is even in the pipeline. Many people have written to the borough council asking why they would even consider a development that has never featured in their Core Strategy for the town and is, I understand, outside the town boundary. It is, of course, on a relatively narrow country road which makes the access dangerous: permission was given, on appeal, for 54 timber clad holiday homes with the rider that this was not a suitable site for dwellings so I hope the council will bear this in mind during their deliberations. Rosie Farrant Butcher Park Hill Tavistock ONE hundred and ten houses could be built on a greenfield site at Butcher Park Hill, which is outside land designated by the council for housing. The narrow steep road to Brentor is in a deep cutting which will be made yet narrower by a proposed footpath from the proposed development. Passing bays for larger vehicles to pass will be made, reducing the width of the pavement, which will then be too narrow for push chairs, mobility scooters, and pedestrians to pass, they will have to wait while lorries manoeuvre into the bay. If this application is passed, the development plan which was worked on for many years has no meaning — any land around Tavistock could be developed. S Reynolds Tavistock
