THE death of Cllr Peter Hill takes away one of the most honourable and likeable personalities in Devon, from us. He will be remembered for his long service to our area, having won the seat on the then Okehampton Rural District Council in 1958, at the age of 22. He never lost that seat. Young people please take note. He was most friendly and approachable to anyone. I met him regularly at the meetings of Devon Association of Parish Councils and the Okehampton Area Committee of Parish Councils. I will always be grateful to him for his help and guidance when I was a new councillor. I have lost a great friend. I was talking with him only last week when he opened the new premises of West Devon Borough Council in Okehampton. My condolences to his lovely wife Gay and all his loved ones. He leaves a big gap in our society. He will be missed by us all. Cllr Hyder Ali Pirwany 1 East Street Okehampton
