MORE than 600 people turned out for the annual Super Sports Fun Day and Run in Okehampton on Sunday.

The event organisers, OCRA (Okehampton Community Recreation Association), provided a variety of 18 different have- a- go activities, including dance, music, gymnastics, trampoline and fitness sessions as well as competitions that drew teams from across Devon.

Stuart Lord, OCRA manager, said: ‘It was great to see people of all ages and especially families being active together. This is a key focus of the charity.’

He added that there was support for the OCRA led event by Fusion, Okehampton running, tennis and hockey clubs and Wren Music.

‘It was fantastic for people to try sports like trampolining and gymnastics , but also see the inspiring displays that drew “wows” in this fantastic outside setting,’ added Stuart.

‘Working with Age Concern Devon and funded by Active Devon the event also offered people over 50 years of age much to try.’

Okehampton Sports and Fitness Festival this year will have had more than 3,000 participants of all ages and abilities in over 45 different sports.

Thanks were expressed to Fusion, Okehampton Town and Hamlets Council, Devon County Councilors, Co-op, Okehampton United Charity and local business.
