MORE?than 600 people attended a celebration and performance day for the Arts Wave Devon project at Tavistock Library recently.

Daisi, arts eductation organisation for Devon and Torbay, had been offering workshops in Tavistock throughout May and June, through the Arts Wave Devon commission.

On the day people participated in the many creative workshops, including drumming, animation and dance, or went to see the exhibition of their work produced during the project.

The project has been working with a wide section of the community, especially older people, young people and people with a disability — promoting wellbeing through taking part in creative activities.

The Wharf hosted circus skills workshops with Steve Eldridge and members of Engage and REACH?Theatre Groups.

Devon county councillor for Tavistock Debo Sellis said: 'Investing in arts and music helps nurture young people and other members of the community. The managers of our well loved local library are to be applauded for being so creative in taking part in the diverse Arts Wave Devon Project.'
