The March meeting of the Okehampton Branch of Devon Beekeepers was held at Shelley Methodist Hall, South Zeal on the evening of Tuesday March 13. The meeting was attended by more than 20 members, who heard branch chairman Ray King deliver a presentation on the subject of 'Observations at the Hive Entrance', which considered the many signs that can be used to interpret the well-being of the honeybee colony without the need to open the hive or disturb the bees. Ray Radford then entertained the group with a detailed talk through the beekeeping year, and answered members' questions on this subject. This year the Okehampton beekeepers will be submitting a branch entry to the Devon County Show and Janet Grist gave the group a brief report on progress to date. The annual Okehampton Beekeepers' dinner will be held at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum, on Friday April 27.
