THE survival of traditional Dartmoor haymeadows is put under the spotlight at a special workshop being held near Widecombe this month.
The event is being organised by Action for Wildlife: The Dartmoor Biodiversity Project. The workshop will be held at Southcombe House, where landowner Dr Seale has created a haymeadow habitat using bales from surviving and increasingly rare Dartmoor haymeadows.
These meadows support a huge range of flowers including ox-eye daisies and orchids.
Project officer Frances Cooper said: ?This is an opportunity to find out how you can help ensure that haymeadows rich in wildflowers do not become a thing of the past.?
To attend the free workshop, meet at 10am on June 14 at the council car park at Widecombe, next to the Café on the Green.
