AN application to develop an open grassed area for private housing at Lamb Park in Chagford is being recommended for refusal by Dartmoor National Park Authority?s planning committee.
The land is situated between six recently built local needs homes and other private dwellings ? the outline application is for a private residential development of three houses.
Chagford Parish Council has objected to the plan unless the homes can be made available for local needs.
Six letters of objection have also been received by Dartmoor National Park Authority?s planning committee, which refer to increased traffic movements, reduced safety for children and loss of privacy.
Planning officer Colin Jarvis in his report to the committee said the site was outside the development boundary of Chagford prior to the building of local needs housing to the north. He said the land should therefore be considered as an ?exception site? and infill development would only be acceptable if the housing was to be reserved for occupation by local people.
The planning committee is due to consider the application at its meeting tomorrow (Friday).
