A TRADITIONAL family-run English country hotel in West Devon will be going head-to-head with internationally-known organisations next month, after being short-listed for the National Tourism Awards.

The Arundell Arms at Lifton last week heard it has been shortlisted in the venue and business tourism award category.

Incredibly, The Arundell Arms is now up against Old Trafford to win the prestigious award, along with London's Excel Centre, The Lowry, and Keele University Conferences and Events.

The hotel will find out which award it has won at the final, taking place at Cheltenham Racecourse on May 12.

This will be the second consecutive year that the Arundell Arms has been successful in this award – the hotel won bronze in last year's competition — and the team looks forward to being judged alongside the big name contenders.

Adam Fox-Edwards, The Arundell Arms Hotel managing director, said: 'I am absolutely delighted that we have been short listed for a National Award, which really does reflect well on the whole team at the hotel, and recognises what they do throughout the year and on a national scale.

'To be a finalist for the second time is a remarkable achievement for a small hotel in West Devon.

'To be competing as a finalist amongst the best and some of the largest household names in the country is a remarkable achievement.'
