A HOTEL giant is currently in discussions regarding possible sites in two West Devon towns.

As previously reported in the Times, Premier Inn, the largest operator of hotel bedrooms within the UK, had set its sights on Tavistock and Okehampton as part of a nationwide expansion programme.

Now it has been confirmed by commercial property company JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle), the retained agent for Premier Inn, that the company was in discussions about possible sites.

John Kinsey, JLL national director — Exeter, hotels and hospitality, said: 'Were are in discussions on sites in both towns. We haven't signed any deals yet.'

Mr Kinsey previously told the Times that both hotels would represent between £3.5-million and £4-million worth of investment by Premier Inn and each hotel would employ between 30 to 40 full and part-time jobs.

He said it was planned for the hotel in Tavistock to have 60 bedrooms and the one in Okehampton to have 50 to 60.
