A GROUP from City College, Plymouth, visited Dartmoor Brewery to discuss ways in which the brewery could become involved in its hospitality and licensed trade courses.
Among the group were principal Phil Davies, head of employability and skills Teresa Gardner and Roger Pope, of Millfields Trust.
It has already been arranged that from next January students are to visit Two Bridges Hotel for on-site training in the hospitality trade.
This will be combined with a visit to Dartmoor Brewery to gain knowledge of the brewing industry, not only on the manufacturing and the products, but also on the actual running of the brewery as a business.
The City College of Plymouth has asked the brewery for advice and input on setting up a brewing module for the hospitality department, plus looking at ways in the future of structuring an actual course in brewing.
Students would spend time with the brewery, learning to brew in a commercial environment and this would be overseen by head brewer Mike Lunney, one of the few master brewers.
