Tavistock v Werrington
TAVISTOCK lost the toss and bowled first. Werrington made their intentions clear from the first ball as openers Alex Smeeth and Mark Horwell attacked the bowlers right from the off.
Tavistock opening bowlers of Hendrix and McGahey bowled tight to the stumps but it was the batsmen who began to get the upper hand as they racked up the runs playing some nice shots all around the ground.
A change of bowling brought a wicket as youngster Tom Cummin who bowled five tidy overs managed to have Smeeth well caught by Hendrix in the covers.
Matt Robins came to the crease and started to open up from the word go. Both batsmen reached their 50's in good time but wickets taken by Cummin and Luffman slowed Werrington down toward the end of their innings and after 20 overs they ended up with a total of 160 for 3 with Horswell 60 not out.
Tavistock opened the batting with father and son, Steve and Jake Luffman, and both found it hard to get the ball away against a very tight bowling attack.
Both Steve and Jake got into the 20's but up against a good standard of bowling both were out to fine catches in field as they looked to push the score on.
Hendrix and Gearing also got starts but up against Alex Smeeth they found runs hard to come by. Smeeth picked up both Hendrix and Gearing and youngsters Cummins and Josh Stephens were left not out at the end of the Tavistock innings. Werrington won the game by 58 runs.
