A HORRABRIDGE charity has launched an appeal for donations for its major fundraising event of the year, taking place in the run up to Christmas.

The Horrabridge Cavaliers will be holding their 20th Annual Bottle Auction at the London Inn in Horrabridge on Friday, December 11 at 7pm.

A general invite has now been extended to anyone who would like to come along and bid - or could donate a bottle or two or some cash to buy some to auction.

President Richard Smith said: “For the past 19 years, the bottle auction has been the Cavaliers’ principal fundraising event and year on year the proceeds of the auction have steadily grown. Last year we raised £2,741 and this year, we are hoping to beat that amount.

“The money collected in the auction and other Cavaliers’ fundraising events throughout the year, including quiz evenings and barbecues, is used to support good causes, organisations and individuals in Horrabridge.

“The Cavaliers’ Bottle Auctions have so far raised a total of £29,852, all of which has been used to support good causes in Horrabridge.”

He added: “If you would like to donate a bottle or bottles for us to auction on the night, they can be dropped off at the village shop or at the London Inn where we will collect them. Should you not have a bottle to donate, we would be pleased to receive any monetary donations as well.

“The Cavaliers and the London Inn are hoping to attract as many of you as possible on the night, so please do join us. It’s an enjoyable evening with some competitive bidding for the bargains on offer. We hope to see you there so that we can raise a significant sum of money.”
