GUESTS attending the Horn of Plenty's famous charity lunches this year have made donations of £6,810 to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping local people to fight cancer.

Julie Leivers,  owner of the Horn of Plenty, said:  'We are so pleased with the amount raised from this year's charity lunches.

'Most of us have been touched by cancer in some way,  and thanks to the fantastic support of our customers,  it is great to be able to give something back.'

Sian Harris, local fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: 'Every day in Devon and Cornwall, 27 people hear the words "you have cancer" and face a tough battle that affects them and their families and loved ones. Donations such as this one from the Horn of Plenty will mean that no one has to face this fight alone.

'Macmillan is funding new Cancer Nurses and GPs, and in total will spend over £4.8-million this year on supporting people in Devon and Cornwall.

'All of this is paid for by donations like this, so we want to say a huge "thank you" to the Horn of Plenty and its customers for making a difference'.

The Horn of Plenty will be holding its charity lunches for Macmillan again next year during January and February.
